Govt to Launch Online Portal for Coal Exploration Clearance
The Central Government will launch a new online module on July 4, enabling coal block operators to submit exploration proposals digitally via the Single Window Clearance System. This module is aimed at streamlining the entire coal exploration process, covering proposal submission, geological report approval, and final clearance, through a single digital interface.
The initiative is intended to enhance transparency and ensure adherence to defined timelines across all stages of the approval process. Developed in collaboration with the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDIL), the module forms part of the government’s broader effort to fully digitalise the coal exploration value chain.
The Single Window Clearance System, launched in 2021, serves as a centralised digital platform for obtaining statutory approvals related to coal mining. It facilitates faster and more efficient processing of permissions, including mining leases, mine closure plans, environmental and forest clearances, and land acquisition approvals.
