Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy announced India Mining Week 2026, scheduled for 15 to 17 November at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. The three-day summit will be held under the theme Stronger Resources, Smarter Mining, Sustainable Tomorrow and the summit logo and brochure were unveiled at a curtain-raiser. The event is positioned as the country's largest conference-cum-exhibition for the mining and minerals sector.

Officials said the summit will convene governments, industry, investors, technology leaders, researchers, startups and academia to foster dialogue, collaboration and business engagement across the mining value chain. The minister described the initiative as reflecting India's renewed confidence and global aspirations, with a focus on technology, sustainability and value addition. The release framed the gathering as a platform to strengthen partnerships and promote innovation.

Ministry statements highlighted reforms over the past decade, including transparent auctions, commercial coal mining, accelerated exploration and measures to ease doing business that have enhanced investor interest. Officials identified energy security, critical minerals and resilient supply chains as key challenges and outlined an integrated approach that combines policy reform, technological advancement and international cooperation. The measures were linked to Aatmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat objectives.

During the ceremony officials launched an online portal application for registration of coal exchanges and announced the eighth tranche of auction of critical and strategic mineral blocks. The minister of state for coal and mines said the sector is emerging as a driver of economic growth, regional development and employment generation. Officials emphasised transparent governance, responsible mining practices and technology adoption as enablers of new opportunities.

The secretary described the summit as a platform to showcase India's transformation and to attract global investors and technology providers. Officials noted that India achieved one billion tonnes (1 bn t) of coal production for two consecutive years and crossed 1 bn t of coal supply, underlining the sector's role in energy security. The event is expected to attract 25000+ professionals, 500+ exhibitors and 200+ speakers and to support knowledge exchange and strategic partnerships.
