Mines Ministry: DMFs collect Rs 820 bn by August

The Ministry of Mines announced that funds amounting to Rs 823.70 billion had been collected by District Mineral Foundations (DMFs) across 644 districts in 23 states and union territories (UTs) as of August 2023. It was stated by the Ministry that DMFs, which operate as non-profit organizations, work to aid individuals and areas impacted by mining-related activities according to the guidelines set by the respective state governments.

The Ministry further disclosed, "The total funds amassed under DMF reached Rs 823.70 billion, and the expenditure recorded was Rs 451.50 billion as of August." The Ministry also pointed out that DMFs had been established in 644 districts in 23 states and Union Territories by August. Moreover, 17 states and UTs had successfully implemented DMFs in each of their districts. This comprehensive list included Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Goa, Assam, and Jammu & Kashmir.
