Mines Ministry Promotes Cleanliness Under Swachhata Hi Seva 2025

The Ministry of Mines, along with its field organisations, actively participated in the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2025, adopting a ‘Whole of Government’ approach to drive cleanliness and sustainability. The initiative achieved notable success, transforming 98 Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) and recognising the contributions of Safai Mitras, with a total of 5,853 participants taking part.
Shri Piyush Goyal, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, led the Swachhata Pledge at Khanij Kaksh, Shastri Bhawan, accompanied by senior officials and employees. The event reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to promoting cleanliness and sustainable practices within its offices.
As part of the campaign, Ministry officials and staff formed a human chain between India Gate and Shastri Bhawan, symbolising collective responsibility for a cleaner and greener future.
To honour the dedicated service of sanitation workers, the Ministry organised a felicitation ceremony for Safai Mitras. Smt. Farida M. Naik, Joint Secretary (Mines), and Shri Vivek Kumar Sharma, Director (Mines), distributed shoes as a token of appreciation and inaugurated a health camp for Safai Mitras and Ministry employees.
Under the nationwide call of ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’, Shri Piyush Goyal, along with senior officials, participated in a cleanliness drive at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, reinforcing the message of shared responsibility towards hygiene and sustainability.
In Hyderabad, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal & Mines, inaugurated Waste to Wealth Models at the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Southern Region, highlighting the importance of innovation-driven waste management. He commended the efforts of sanitation workers from GHMC and GSI, and sanitation kits were distributed in recognition of their contributions.
The Swachhotsav 2025 celebrations reflected the Ministry’s collective spirit and dedication to achieving the goals of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025. The Ministry continues to encourage its employees to actively participate in cleanliness drives and integrate sustainable practices into daily life.
