Naini Coal Consignment Reaches Yadadri Plant

Telangana received relief from coal shortages after a first consignment arrived at Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) on Tuesday. The delivery marked the arrival of high calorific value coal from the Naini block in Odisha and is intended to support regular generation needs at the plant. The supply is expected to ease pressure on stocks and improve energy availability across the state.

A rake carrying 4,000 tonnes (4,000 t) of coal reached the plant under a coordinated logistics operation. Officials noted that TGGENCO directors B Nagya and Y Rajashekhar Reddy, responsible for coal and logistics and for thermal projects respectively, received the consignment at the site. The material was described as superior grade coal suitable for sustained thermal generation.

The coal from the Naini block will bolster state energy requirements and enable the plant to approach peak generation capacity when needed. Despite being transported over a distance of approximately 1,050 km, improved thermal efficiency is expected to enhance boiler performance and reduce ash handling issues, which officials said justifies the freight outlay. Operational planners indicated that better fuel quality can translate into more stable unit availability and improved plant economics.

Authorities signalled that further rakes from the Naini mine will arrive in the coming days to replenish stocks at YTPS and sustain steady supply. Continued deliveries are planned to ensure that inventory levels remain adequate to meet demand during peak periods and to avoid ad hoc shortages. The arrival is being treated as a logistical and operational relief that contributes to grid stability in Telangana.

Plant engineers and supply managers are coordinating transport schedules and stock rotation to optimise usage of the better quality fuel. Routine checks on combustion and ash systems will be intensified to capture efficiency gains and to monitor any operational impacts. The move is expected to support reliable power delivery to consumers.
