NCC secures Rs 68.29 billion coal mining contract in Jharkhand
The project covers the extraction and transportation of overburden (OB) and coal at the Amrapali Open Cast Project (OCP) in the Chandragupt Area of Jharkhand. In a regulatory filing, NCC stated, “The Company has received a Letter of Acceptance dated 24 October 2025 from Central Coalfields Limited for extraction and transportation of overburden and coal at Amrapali OCP, Chandragupt Area, Jharkhand.”
Project scope and execution timeline The scope includes hiring heavy earth-moving machinery (HEMM) for removing 413.59 million cubic metres of OB, extracting 233.33 million tonnes of coal, and transporting it to Shivpur siding and the surface stockyard under various lead slabs. It also involves wagon loading of 139.99 million tonnes of coal at the siding.
The project will be completed over a total duration of 2,915 days, comprising a 360-day development phase followed by a seven-year production period.
No related-party involvement CCL, a public sector entity, awarded the contract under general conditions of contract. NCC confirmed that the project does not involve any related-party transactions, and none of the company’s promoters or group firms hold any interest in CCL.
Market performance Shares of NCC (Nagarjuna Construction Company) have declined 24.56 per cent so far this year.
