The Ministries of Mines and Coal, along with the Government of Assam, recently announced the 2nd North East Geology & Mining Ministers’ Conclave to be held in Guwahati. Representatives from all eight North Eastern states will participate, with the Chief Minister of Assam as Chief Guest.

The Ministry of Mines will highlight progress under the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET).

Since FY 2024–25, 283 mineral blocks have been put up for auction nationwide, including five from Assam and four from Arunachal Pradesh. The conclave will also see the Ministry of Coal release reports on coal resources in the region and launch a brochure on commercial coal mining.

NLC India Ltd. plans to set up 1,000 MW of solar capacity in Assam. The event aims to boost regional development while aligning with India’s energy and sustainability goals.
