With power demand rising during the monsoon season, Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) has put in place measures to ensure uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power stations, the company said. The chairman and managing director, addressing a review meeting with area general managers, instructed officials to prioritise coal movement and plant requirements despite continuous rainfall. The meeting directed enhanced coordination between production, transport and clearance teams to maintain operations.

The CMD directed teams to ensure transportation of at least 28 to 32 rakes of quality coal every day and to meet those targets despite weather challenges. Officials were instructed to implement special action plans to bolster output from underground mines during the monsoon and to adjust schedules to reduce disruption. Emphasis was placed on quality control and timely loading to avoid supply shortfalls to power utilities.

The company indicated that it is giving top priority to the power needs of Telangana and is currently supplying 75–80 per cent of its coal output to thermal power stations to meet the State's electricity demand. In view of potential flooding along the Godavari river, the CMD urged SCCL rescue teams and departmental officials to remain fully prepared to provide immediate assistance in coordination with local administration. Contingency arrangements for safety, evacuation and equipment protection were reviewed.

The CMD instructed officials to focus on achieving production targets across all opencast mines and to complete the production goals set for the current financial year. He also urged acceleration of statutory clearances for new projects to support long-term capacity plans, including an aim of 70 million tonnes (mn t) of coal production and 500 million cubic metres (mn cubic metres) of overburden removal. The meeting underlined the need for sustained investment in transport infrastructure and workforce readiness to meet these objectives. Directors, executive directors, area general managers and heads of corporate departments attended the review.
