Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) has been declared the L1 bidder for a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction package to develop an 875 megawatt (MW) AC grid-connected solar PV project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, awarded by Coal India. The contract, including operation and maintenance and taxes, is valued at approximately Rs 34.9 bn. The company has also secured a separate order for a 50 megawatt (MW) AC project in Maharashtra from a private independent power producer. With these wins the firm said its total EPC order inflows for financial year 2026 have exceeded Rs 100.62 bn.

The 875 MW AC project represents a large utility-scale assignment and will be delivered on a turnkey basis. The orders add to SWREL's pipeline and reflect work across construction, grid interconnection and ongoing asset management. The Maharashtra assignment will increase the company's domestic footprint in utility solar deliveries and complements its existing project roster.

SWREL describes itself as a global pure-play end-to-end renewable EPC solutions provider, specialising in utility-scale solar, floating solar, hybrid and energy storage, and wind solutions. The firm reported a total portfolio of over 26.1 gigawatt peak (GWp) across commissioned and under-construction projects and manages an operation and maintenance portfolio of 10.1 gigawatt peak (GWp). The company operates in 28 countries including India, South-east Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Australia and the Americas.

The global chief executive said the Coal India award was the company's first from that client and that the company closed the financial year with order inflows substantially above its initial target.
