Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) has signed an agreement with GAIL Gas Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited, to develop a city gas distribution facility at Bengaluru Airport City, advancing a cleaner, greener energy ecosystem.
The facility will include a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) installations, and associated clean energy infrastructure. It will also feature non-fuel retail and convenience offerings for the public.
The project aims to provide CNG infrastructure for taxis, buses, logistics fleets, and last-mile connectivity vehicles at and around Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport), positioning Bengaluru Airport City as a sustainable urban and commercial hub.
BACL, a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), has already achieved the IGBC Green Cities Platinum Rating. CEO Rao Munukutla stated that the new facility reinforces its leadership in sustainable urban innovation.
GAIL Gas CEO Goutom Chakraborty said the station will benefit thousands of vehicles, offering convenient CNG access while promoting a cleaner, greener Bengaluru. The company has been authorised by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board to implement city gas distribution across Bengaluru Urban and Rural Districts, supplying PNG to households, industries, and commercial users, and CNG to vehicles.
