Castrol India Launches New MAGNATEC with API SQ

Castrol India has launched its upgraded MAGNATEC range of engine oils, becoming one of the first in the country to offer products meeting the latest global API SQ specification. This significant milestone reinforces Castrol’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge automotive solutions locally, with the new range being manufactured in India.
Introduced globally in April 2025, the API SQ standard represents the most advanced engine oil specification developed by the American Petroleum Institute. Castrol India has swiftly brought this innovation to market, demonstrating its agility and focus on technological leadership.
Commenting on the launch, Saugata Basuray, Wholetime Director, Castrol India, said, “Indian drivers expect more from their cars—better fuel efficiency, lower maintenance, and performance they can count on in every condition. With the new Castrol MAGNATEC range meeting API SQ standards, we are giving them exactly that—a world-class product, made in India, and made for India. From start-up protection to long-term reliability, this is another first from Castrol, bringing a global innovation to Indian roads almost immediately after its launch worldwide.”

The upgraded MAGNATEC range offers:
  • Stronger wear protection for modern engines
  • Improved fuel efficiency
  • Enhanced protection for catalytic converters
  • Compatibility with India’s E20 fuel environment
Available in viscosities 0W-20, 5W-30, and 5W-40, the new range meets API SQ and ACEA C2/C3 specifications and is future-ready for evolving automotive needs.

The products will be rolled out across retail outlets and workshops throughout India in the coming weeks.
