HPCL Signs PNG Gas Sales Agreement With Invertis University
PNG is recognised as a cleaner and more sustainable fuel compared with conventional liquefied petroleum gas and other fossil fuels, and the university will expect reductions in local emissions and improvements in safety standards. The adoption of PNG is also designed to simplify fuel logistics for campus catering services and reduce handling risks associated with cylinderised fuels. HPCL will manage supply arrangements and technical coordination to ensure consistent delivery. The campus rollout follows established city gas distribution practices.
The partnership aligns with the wider objectives of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to expand the city gas distribution network across India. HPCL has positioned the initiative as part of its strategy to promote sustainable energy solutions within educational institutions and public entities. The collaboration is expected to encourage other campuses to consider piped gas connections as part of broader sustainability planning. Implementation will include necessary safety checks and commissioning work before full supply commences.
HPCL stated that the agreement reflects its ongoing commitment to powering institutions with safe and reliable energy and to supporting environmentally responsible infrastructure. The project is expected to enhance the quality of life for students and staff and to contribute to a greener campus ecosystem. Continued monitoring and stakeholder engagement will guide operational adjustments. The company will work with the university to ensure the transition is smooth and compliant with regulatory norms.
