KiddeFenwal, a global leader in fire suppression and safety control solutions, has expanded its inert gas fire protection portfolio with the launch of NATURA Micro, a compact system designed to protect high-value, small-sized commercial and industrial assets. Offered under the Kidde Fire Systems brand, NATURA Micro delivers rapid, zero-residue and eco-friendly fire suppression in a low-maintenance, space-efficient format.

The company unveiled NATURA Micro at Intersec, the international security, safety and fire protection exhibition held in Dubai from January 12 to 14. Alongside the launch, KiddeFenwal also introduced enhancements to its NATURA™ total flood inert gas system, including an acoustic nozzle suitable for sound- and vibration-sensitive environments, a refill programme that reduces system re-arming lead times to one day, and lower agent quantity requirements aimed at reducing overall ownership costs.

The NATURA system is designed to detect incipient-stage fires and suppress them before conventional sprinklers are activated, thereby preventing secondary damage caused by water discharge. Fire suppression is achieved through the rapid release of inert gases, which reduce oxygen levels to a point where combustion cannot be sustained. The system leaves no residue and is environmentally responsible, with zero ozone depletion potential and zero global warming potential.

NATURA Micro extends these benefits to object-specific applications, offering enhanced protection for enclosed assets such as server racks, power distribution units and high-voltage cabinets. The system also simplifies installation and testing through features such as thin-walled piping, reduced venting requirements, test activation without agent release and quick-connect couplings.

The launch comes amid rising fire risks linked to expanding data centre infrastructure driven by artificial intelligence applications and the growing adoption of lithium-ion batteries, which increase the likelihood of thermal runaway incidents. These risks gained global attention following a major lithium-ion battery-related fire at a South Korean data centre in September 2025, which reportedly disrupted nationwide digital services.
