Luminous Power Technologies (Luminous) is to establish integrated solar cell and energy storage manufacturing in Odisha, selecting Gopalpur for a solar cell plant and Angul for an energy storage systems plant. The move forms part of an expansion of the firm's manufacturing footprint in eastern India aimed at strengthening the domestic solar value chain. The projects are supported by state policies intended to attract clean energy investment.

The Gopalpur facility will manufacture ingots, wafers and solar cells, enabling greater local content for module assembly and reducing supply chain reliance on imports. This development positions Luminous alongside established manufacturers such as Tata Power Group that are already producing cells and modules in India. Investments in modern manufacturing technologies are expected to raise local production capabilities and create skilled employment.

Luminous has presented a broad suite of solar and storage solutions tailored for residential, commercial and industrial customers, encompassing on grid, off grid and hybrid systems. The product range includes TOPCon bifacial solar panels, high performance inverters and long duration batteries, together with a smart monitoring application called Connect X. The display of technologies emphasises the company's focus on innovation, reliability and sustainability.

The company described Odisha as a strategically important market that will serve both as a manufacturing base and as a gateway to India's expanding clean energy ecosystem. It noted that strong policy support and growing investment activity in the state are central to its long-term manufacturing and growth strategy. The projects are expected to bolster infrastructure and accelerate adoption of clean energy across sectors.
