Oil India (OIL) and TotalEnergies have signed a Technology Service Agreement to advance exploration across India’s deep and ultradeepwater offshore basins. Concluded in New Delhi on 19 November 2025, the agreement was formalised in the presence of Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, along with senior officials including Additional Secretary Praveen Mal Khanooja and OIL Chairman and Managing Director Ranjit Rath. It was signed by Dr Sangkaran Ratnam of TotalEnergies Gas & Power Projects India and Saloma Yomdo, Director (E&D), OIL.

The collaboration establishes a structured framework for OIL to access TotalEnergies’ global expertise spanning the full deepwater exploration value chain. It will support ongoing appraisal activities for a gas discovery in the Andaman Basin’s shallow offshore blocks and guide exploration in OIL’s OALP-IX ultradeepwater acreages in the Mahanadi and Krishna–Godavari Basins. The agreement also covers joint evaluation of prospects under the ongoing OALP-X and future bid rounds, in addition to technical support for stratigraphic well drilling in Category-II and Category-III offshore basins.

OIL stated that the partnership signifies an important step in expanding India’s offshore exploration footprint. By integrating advanced global capability with national exploration efforts, the alliance aims to unlock new hydrocarbon resources and contribute to a more secure and sustainable energy future for the country.
