ABB Dispatches First Locally Made Wind Power Converter in India
The dispatch reflects ABB’s strategy to integrate proven wind energy conversion technologies into its portfolio while supporting India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives. Alongside wind power, ABB’s locally manufactured renewable portfolio also covers utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems.
India continues to emerge as a major global hub for wind manufacturing and deployment, with installed wind capacity expected to reach 107 GW by 2030. ABB’s expanded renewable power conversion capabilities are expected to support grid reliability, regulatory compliance and large-scale renewable integration.
With over 60,000 wind converters and generators delivered globally over the past 15 years, ABB aims to further strengthen India’s renewable energy ecosystem and contribute to the country’s target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
