ACME Solar Secures 220 MW Solar Project With Battery Storage in MP

ACME Solar Holdings has secured a 220 megawatt (MW) solar project with an integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) at Morena Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh. The award forms part of a 440 MW tender issued by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd under tariff-based competitive bidding. The project will operate under a power purchase agreement for a 25-year tenor to supply energy to the state power purchaser.

The plant is required to deliver power with a maximum annual capacity utilisation factor of 35 per cent and to provide four hours of peak supply daily, with two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. Availability obligations are set at 95 per cent on an annual basis. Charging for the evening peak will be drawn from the solar plant while energy for the morning peak will be supplied free of cost by the procurer during night hours.

Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL) will provide the land and evacuation infrastructure above the 33 kV level as part of the solar park facilities. The scheme will combine solar generation and BESS to satisfy supply obligations under the agreement. Contracts will be finalised with the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL) and with RUMSL to formalise the power sale and operational responsibilities.

The tender was conducted under tariff-based competitive bidding and an e-reverse auction was completed in September 2025, according to the company. The award secures ACME Solar Holdings a position in the Morena Solar Park development and aligns generation and storage to meet peak supply requirements. The combined solar and storage approach is intended to enhance grid stability and ensure compliance with long-term availability and performance metrics over the contract period. The developer will be responsible for meeting the technical and commercial obligations set out in the tender and the power purchase agreement.
