Adani Energy Plans Rs 160-180 Bn Capex for FY26 Growth

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) plans a capital expenditure of Rs 160-180 billion for FY26, focusing on transmission, smart meters, and distribution, according to Chief Executive Officer Kandarp Patel. The company will allocate Rs 120-130 billion for transmission, Rs 40 billion for smart meters, and Rs 16 billion for distribution.

AESL had incurred a capex of Rs 114.44 billion in FY25. The company’s transmission pipeline remains strong, with Rs 540 billion worth of inter-state transmission system (ISTS) projects in the bid-out stage. AESL expects states to increase transmission investments to absorb renewable power from ISTS projects.

In FY25, AESL secured a 28 per cent market share in transmission bidding, winning seven projects worth Rs 440 billion. In FY26, the company aims to deliver seven projects, including the Mumbai HVDC project, with a total capex of Rs 150 billion.

In distribution, AESL plans to bid for Uttar Pradesh’s discom privatisation and explore opportunities in Navi Mumbai. Under smart meters, it holds an order book of 22.8 million meters, with potential revenue exceeding Rs 271.95 billion. AESL targets installing 700,000 smart meters in FY26, aiming for a total installed base of 10 million units.
