Adani Group's project in Sri Lanka set for completion in December 2024
The meeting covered challenges, the project roadmap, timeline, and Adani Green Energy's commitment to finishing the project by December 2024. This review marked the first since February. In August of the previous year, the Adani Group received approval to commence wind power projects in Pooneryn in Sri Lanka's northeast. Adani Green Energy was granted provisional approval for two wind projects: one with a capacity of 286 MW in Mannar and another with a capacity of 234 MW in Pooneryn, representing an investment of over USD 500 million.
In addition to their investment in the Western container terminal of Colombo's port, the Adani Group's involvement in Sri Lanka's energy sector further expands their commitment to the country. Gautam Adani, the group's chief, held discussions with former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in October 2021 to advance the group's investments in the country following the agreement to develop the western container terminal of Colombo port during the Rajapaksa presidency.
