Adani Power Limited has secured a project worth Rs 20 Bn to supply 1,500 megawatts of thermal power to Uttar Pradesh, emerging as the lowest bidder in a competitive tender. The power will be delivered at a levelised tariff of Rs 5.383 per unit.
The supply will come from a greenfield ultra-supercritical thermal power plant with a two-by-eight hundred megawatt configuration, resulting in 1,500 megawatts of net capacity. The facility will be established in the state under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model.
The project, approved earlier this month by the Uttar Pradesh cabinet, involves an estimated investment of approximately Rs 166 Bn ($2 Bn). Adani Power is expected to sign a long-term Power Supply Agreement with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited.
Construction is projected to create direct and indirect employment for eight thousand to nine thousand people, with around two thousand permanent roles post-completion. The plant is expected to begin supplying power by financial year twenty thirty.
This marks Adani Power’s second major win in the past year, following a composite 6,600 megawatt award in Maharashtra, which has since been converted into a Power Supply Agreement.
