Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said the State government remained committed to its assurance of not increasing electricity tariffs for five years and highlighted a new true-down mechanism described as a first of its kind by the administration. He said the coalition government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had stabilised the power system within a short period. The statement set out the government position on tariff policy and sector reform. The Minister outlined the administration's focus on stable tariffs to shield households and industries.

He said daily power consumption was around 280 million (mn) units owing to fluctuating weather conditions. Despite increased demand and weather related disruptions, the government had ensured uninterrupted supply through advance measures and rapid restoration. Winds had caused temporary interruptions to power lines in some places, which electricity department personnel were restoring without delay. He said monitoring systems were being used to manage demand and dispatch resources efficiently.

He said the administration was strengthening the transmission network by augmenting Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (AP Transco) infrastructure and expediting construction of substations and transformers across the State. The government was expanding electricity infrastructure to meet requirements of upcoming industries and to support economic development. Measures were being taken to improve both financial and operational efficiency across the power sector. Upgrades were directed at reducing losses and ensuring capacity met peak requirements.

He reiterated the pledge to keep power tariffs unchanged for five years while pursuing reforms to bolster system resilience and fiscal health. The government said the true-down mechanism would provide a structured approach to reconcile costs and revenues as operations matured. The administration affirmed its intent to continue investments and oversight to maintain supply reliability for consumers and industry. The administration was coordinating with district teams to ensure rapid response to disruptions.
