Andhra Pradesh aims to generate 160 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy, the state minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said, outlining an ambitious capacity target for the coming years. The announcement reflects a drive to diversify the energy mix and accelerate deployment of wind, solar and other clean technologies. Officials expect the programme to attract investment and create jobs while reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The minister indicated that planning will focus on grid integration and supportive land and policy frameworks.

The government intends to coordinate with central authorities, industry and financial institutions to mobilise resources and technical expertise. Emphasis will be placed on strengthening transmission and distribution infrastructure to accommodate intermittent generation.
