Andhra Pradesh to Host Rs 250 bn Renewable Power Projects

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced renewable energy projects worth Rs 250 billion, set to transform the state into a major clean energy hub. These projects—covering solar, wind, and green hydrogen—are expected to generate thousands of jobs and accelerate India’s green transition.

The state has signed multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with leading companies, including ReNew Power, Greenko, and NTPC, to develop large-scale renewable power infrastructure. The new projects will be located across Anantapur, Kurnool, and Kadapa districts, known for their high solar and wind potential.

Officials said the investments will enhance power generation capacity, support the state’s industrial corridors, and contribute to India’s 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030. The government aims to facilitate faster clearances and provide land and connectivity support to developers.

These initiatives are part of Andhra Pradesh’s broader push to promote sustainable development and attract private sector participation in green energy expansion.
