Axis Energy Secures EPC Contract For 552 MW Solar Project

Axis Energy has secured an engineering, procurement and construction contract to deliver a 552 megawatt (MW) solar power project in Anantapur district being developed by Evren, a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy. The mandate covers the utility scale solar component of an integrated renewable energy scheme and follows the company’s established work in large scale projects. The contract positions Axis Energy to provide both engineering and project delivery services for the solar array and associated balance of plant.

The project is targeted for commissioning within the next 18 months and forms part of a 400 MW wind?solar hybrid configuration integrated with battery energy storage systems and connected to the state electricity grid. The integrated design aims to supply renewable power during peak periods and to support Andhra Pradesh’s peak power requirements by enabling more predictable dispatch. Long term power purchase agreements with Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited underpin the commercial framework for the development.

Axis Energy has commenced execution of the 640.5 MW wind component of the scheme and is progressing site mobilisation and civil works for both wind and solar elements. The combined wind, solar and storage arrangement is expected to improve utilisation of renewable generation while helping to manage intermittency and meet peak demand. The company will coordinate grid interconnection works with state authorities to ensure compliance and timely commissioning.

Murali Surapaneni, chief executive officer of Axis Energy, said securing the solar EPC mandate marks a significant milestone, strengthens the partner relationship with Evren and reflects a commitment to deliver integrated renewable energy solutions with operational efficiency and project execution expertise. He added the project demonstrates the company’s support for India’s energy transition and its focus on scalable, reliable clean energy infrastructure. The programme is intended to showcase an integrated approach to large scale renewable delivery in the region.
