Cabinet okay India's entry into international energy efficiency hub
The Hub, established in 2020 as a successor to the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC), serves as a platform for governments, international organisations, and private entities to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and promote energy efficiency worldwide. India was previously a member of IPEEC and will now re-engage with global partners through the Hub.
Joining the Hub will provide India access to a vast network of experts, resources, and innovative solutions to further enhance its domestic energy efficiency programs. As of July 2024, the Hub has 16 member countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, the European Commission, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
As a member, India will benefit from international collaboration, sharing its expertise, and adopting best practices to promote energy-efficient technologies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thereby contributing to global climate action. (ET)
