CANNON Artes Wins Saudi Contract for Major Desalination Plant
The desalination facility forms part of a USD 2.6 billion project jointly developed by ACWA Power, Saudi Electricity Company, and Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co., with Orascom Construction and Técnicas Reunidas serving as EPC contractors.
Set to deliver 34,000 cubic metres of treated seawater per day, the plant will supply demineralised water for steam generation, potable water for plant use, and service water for utilities. Designed for high efficiency and long-term reliability, the facility will meet and exceed local regulatory standards while reinforcing CANNON Artes’ commitment to sustainability and resource efficiency.
The system integrates advanced Ultrafiltration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) technologies with nearly 22,000 m² of membrane area, followed by Electrodeionisation (EDI) for polishing. A remineralisation section with calcite filters restores calcium and alkalinity, ensuring water stability and reduced corrosivity.
“This project highlights CANNON Artes’ expertise in managing complex, large-scale water treatment challenges that meet the most stringent efficiency and environmental benchmarks,” said Mauro Monti, Area Manager, CANNON Artes.
The development further cements CANNON Artes’ global leadership in industrial water treatment, serving sectors such as power generation, oil & gas, and petrochemicals. The company’s fully integrated approach — from process design to manufacturing and commissioning — ensures quality and performance across all projects.
CANNON Artes is currently exhibiting at Stand 2112 at ADIPEC 2024 in Abu Dhabi from 3–6 November.
