Coal India (CIL) has issued a tender for the development of an 875 MW ground-mounted solar power plant at the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUNL)’s 2 GW solar park in Pugal, Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The solar installation will be connected to a 33kV/400kV park pooling substation. The deadline for submission of bids is August 12, 2025.
The scope of the project includes the detailed design of the grid-interactive solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, topographical survey, preparation of layout maps, and execution of all EPC activities. The tender specifies the use of solar PV technology that enables the direct conversion of solar radiation into electricity using semiconductor-based solar cells operating on the photoelectric effect.
The new tender reinforces CIL’s continued shift towards clean energy. Last year, the company awarded KPI Green Energy a 300 MWAC ground-mounted solar PV project at the GIPCL Solar Park in Khavda, Gujarat, through a Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) tender.
In May 2025, CIL subsidiary Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) awarded a Rs 3.49 billion contract to Alpex Solar for a solar project at the Nandan Washery, Kanhan Area, operated by Western Coalfields (WCL).
Additionally, companies like K2 Infragen have secured EPC contracts, including one for a 67.61 MW DC solar project in Gujarat, further contributing to India’s renewable energy transition.
