Delhi to Replace 59,000 Sodium Vapour Lights with LEDs

Delhi, India, is set to undergo a significant transformation in its outdoor lighting infrastructure. In a move towards sustainability and energy efficiency, the city plans to replace a staggering 59,000 sodium vapour streetlights with modern LED alternatives. This ambitious project aims to not only reduce energy consumption but also enhance the overall quality of urban lighting. The transition to LED lighting promises several benefits. Firstly, LEDs are significantly more energy-efficient than traditional sodium vapour lights, which will lead to substantial cost savings in the long run. Moreover, LED lights offer improved brightness and visibility, contributing to enhanced safety on Delhi's roads. Additionally, they have a longer lifespan, reducing maintenance costs and inconvenience caused by frequent bulb replacements. This initiative aligns with Delhi's commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the city's overall energy consumption and air quality.
