EcoCortec, a member of the Cortec Corporation group, has secured HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation for its testing laboratory in Croatia. Effective from 5 October for five years, the accreditation covers anti-corrosion testing using Cortec and NACE methods, alongside humidity chamber testing.
Awarded following a comprehensive assessment by an external lead auditor, the accreditation recognises the laboratory’s technical competence, impartiality and consistent operations. It validates its ability to generate accurate and scientifically valid results within the accredited testing scope.
The laboratory supports quality control and product development for EcoCortec’s vapour-phase corrosion inhibitor (VpCI) films. Its wider testing activities include evaluating corrosion protection performance, tensile strength, tear resistance and electrostatic discharge properties. It also regularly conducts tests in accordance with MIL-STD 3010 and ASTM standards.
According to the company, the accreditation strengthens international confidence in its testing services and can help reduce the need for additional testing by customers, suppliers and regulatory authorities.
The facility also supports the development and verification of EcoCortec’s biodegradable, compostable and post-consumer recycled VpCI films. Its engineers use laboratory testing to develop sustainable corrosion protection solutions, while providing technical assistance to customers globally.
Boris Miksic, CEO, Cortec Corporation, said the accreditation demonstrated the high standards of the company’s testing and reinforced customer confidence in the reliability of its VpCI products.
Separately, EcoCortec’s VpCI-126 film was recently tested by Germany’s BFSV Verpackungsinstitut Hamburg GmbH. The film met the requirements of German military standard TL 8135-0043 and achieved Grade 3, the highest grade for corrosion protection performance under the assessment.
