Hyderabad-based deep-tech startup Eon Space Labs is set to achieve a major milestone in India’s private space ecosystem with the launch of its multispectral imaging payload MIRA aboard ISRO’s PSLV-C62 mission, scheduled recently from Sriharikota.

The MIRA payload has been integrated with MOI-1, a 14-kg CubeSat developed by TakeMe2Space, and will demonstrate India’s first AI-powered orbital image laboratories. The mission enables near real-time, in-orbit processing of Earth observation data, significantly reducing data downlink costs.

MIRA is an ultra-light, indigenously developed optical payload carved from a single block of fused silica, offering high stability, low vibration sensitivity and high-quality imaging in a compact form. Integrated with MOI-1’s onboard computing, it allows AI models to analyse imagery while in orbit.

Certified to NASA space-grade standards, MIRA weighs just 502 grams and provides multispectral imaging across nine bands, with a ground sampling distance of 9.2 metres and a swath width of 18.7 km.

PSLV-C62 is a multi-payload mission that also carries EOS-N1 (Anvesha), reinforcing ISRO’s support for India’s expanding NewSpace startup ecosystem.
