Freyr Energy has nearly doubled its rooftop solar installations in Bhopal, increasing capacity from 460 kilowatt (kW) to 895 kilowatt. The company enabled 229 households in the city to transition to solar energy, with the first quarter of 2026 accounting for a substantial share of this expansion. The growth was reported as part of the company’s local operations and reflects accelerating residential uptake.

Rising electricity costs and easy financing options, including zero-collateral loans, are driving demand, while state and central subsidies have lowered the upfront cost barrier. Under the MNRE subsidy structure, homeowners can receive Rs 60,000 for two kW systems and Rs 78,000 for systems ranging from three kW to 10 kW, making adoption more affordable. The company’s Bhopal experience centre has played a key role in educating residents about system economics and benefits.

Freyr Energy’s proprietary app and end-to-end service model, which covers installation through post-installation support, have strengthened consumer trust in the region. Company leadership said that Bhopal is a dynamic market where solar has become a preferred solution in Tier two and Tier three cities, and that nearly last year’s total installations were achieved in the first three months of 2026. The firm framed each household transition as contributing to India’s national target of 500 GW of solar capacity by 2030.

Across Madhya Pradesh, Freyr Energy’s portfolio reached six point five megawatt (MW), up from two point nine megawatt (MW) in 2025, aligning with the Madhya Pradesh Renewable Energy Policy 2025. The policy seeks to source fifty per cent of annual power consumption from renewable sources by 2030, and the company’s growth complements state initiatives such as the floating solar plant in Khandwa and the Ultra Mega Solar Park in Rewa. The expansion in Bhopal is presented as part of broader efforts to scale residential rooftop deployment and improve local energy resilience.
