The Energy Solutions business of Godrej Enterprises Group has successfully commissioned its first solar carport installation at a major IT campus in Noida. Spanning 31,984 sq. mtr. and fitted with 1,031 high-efficiency solar panels, the project showcases Godrej’s innovation-driven approach to sustainable infrastructure aligned with India’s clean energy goals and the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
The carport will generate approximately 7,31,900 kWh of clean energy annually and offset nearly 6,00,158 kg of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to planting over 27,500 mature trees. In addition to reducing the site’s carbon footprint, the dual-use structure provides shaded parking for 400 vehicles, transforming underutilised space into a green energy hub.
Raghavendra Mirji, Executive Vice President & Business Head, Energy Solutions, Godrej Enterprises, said: “With cities becoming denser and space growing scarcer, infrastructure must evolve to be both intelligent and sustainable. This solar carport exemplifies our approach to nation building engineering solutions that not only meet the energy needs of urban India but also strengthen its climate resilience. By innovating for renewable adoption in commercial and industrial hubs, we are proud to contribute to India’s journey towards energy independence and a low-carbon economy.”
This initiative supports India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and reducing carbon intensity under its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It also aligns with efforts to create energy-positive, climate-resilient cities.
As Tier 1 cities face land limitations for large-scale solar deployments, solar carports are emerging as a viable solution to integrate renewables within existing corporate infrastructure. Godrej’s design combines functionality and aesthetics, offering a replicable model for smart urban development.
The project reinforces Godrej Enterprises Group’s broader commitment to advancing sustainable technology and positioning India as a global leader in clean energy. As the country accelerates its green transition, innovations like these will be key to balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship.
