Godrej Scales Green Power Solutions for India Data Centres
Data centres are among the most energy intensive infrastructure assets, creating demand for dedicated power infrastructure and systems that ensure reliable electricity. Godrej intends to pair modular busduct solutions with green building expertise to help hyperscalers and enterprises scale rapidly while reducing energy use, cost and carbon emissions. The business head said the combined technical and consultancy offerings are designed to support rapid deployment and improve operational efficiency.
The Government has introduced long term tax incentives and policy support for data centre and cloud infrastructure, underscoring their importance to the digital economy. This backdrop is expected to create opportunity for integrated providers that can deliver energy efficient systems and support renewable integration at scale. Godrej has expertise in greenfield and colocation projects certified to Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards and worked with key players across India.
Industry estimates indicate installed data centre capacity in India could rise to nearly one point seven gigawatt (GW), with additions expected as digital adoption, artificial intelligence workloads, data localisation and cloud infrastructure expand. The group regards data centres as a strategic long term growth segment and aims to expand its order book for power substations, busduct systems and green building consultancy. It projects a pivotal role in building energy efficient resilient digital infrastructure to support India’s global ambitions.
