Hamirpur To Get Rs 1.07 Billion Power Upgrade Plan
The plan provides for the installation of 701 new transformers while also repairing and upgrading existing units to enhance capacity. New transformers with capacities of 25 kVA, 63 kVA, 100 kVA and 250 kVA will be deployed according to local requirements to better match load profiles. The scheme also includes the laying of new low-tension and high-tension lines and repair of damaged power lines.
Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Superintending Engineer Ashish Kapoor said survey work for the project is currently underway and that the final scope of work will be prepared after area-specific assessments. He indicated that the upgrade will involve replacement of old infrastructure with modern systems and targeted interventions where low-voltage issues are most acute. Officials indicated the initiative is aligned with the RDSS objective of upgrading ageing transformers, electricity lines and substations to ensure uninterrupted supply.
After completion, officials expect power supply in the district to become smoother and more reliable and anticipate a significant reduction in instances of low-voltage for consumers. The project is designed to address capacity constraints and improve overall quality of supply through both corrective repairs and new installations. Implementation timelines will follow completion of the surveys and detailed planning by the electricity board.
