HDFC Bank to bring solar power to 1,000+ villages by 2025
So far, Parivartan has installed more than 61,655 solar streetlights across 22 states. The programme also includes portable solar pumps for irrigation, solar-based water supply systems, and food processing units—supporting both sustainability and local livelihoods.
HDFC Bank’s ‘Solar Shiksha’ programme addresses low adoption due to misinformation, lack of awareness, and procedural hurdles. It offers on-ground education, live demos, and guidance on accessing government schemes and subsidies.
Over 90 workshops have been conducted in states including Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Chhattisgarh. The programme targets schools, hospitals, farms, orphanages, and old-age homes—where solar power can significantly enhance day-to-day living.
“Our solar initiatives are designed to deliver measurable impact—from lighting homes to unlocking new livelihood opportunities,” said Kaizad Bharucha, Deputy MD, HDFC Bank. “This Earth Day, we renew our pledge to expand such models across the country.”
Nusrat Pathan, Head of CSR at HDFC Bank, added: “We’re going beyond infrastructure to build community-led, knowledge-driven frameworks that promote long-term energy independence.”
