India, Sri Lanka review cross-border power projects

India and Sri Lanka have reviewed progress on key bilateral power initiatives, including the proposed high-voltage direct current interconnection and the Sampur Solar Power Project. Discussions covered technical, regulatory and institutional requirements, alongside opportunities for cross-border electricity trade, renewable energy cooperation and transmission development. India also shared its experience with tariff-based competitive bidding for transmission projects. Both countries plan further consultations and technical exchanges to advance implementation, strengthen regional grid connectivity and support energy security and clean-energy deployment.
