India advances Chandikhol strategic oil reserve project

India is advancing expansion of its Strategic Petroleum Reserve network, with 400 acres acquired at Chandikhol in Odisha for a new storage facility and the project request for proposal under review. Feasibility studies for Bikaner caverns are complete, while a detailed feasibility report is planned for Bina. ISPRL is also progressing Padur-II and evaluating an additional 1.75 million tonnes of capacity at Mangalore. Existing reserves provide 5.33 million tonnes of storage across Visakhapatnam, Mangaluru and Padur.
