India Energy Week 2026 recently commenced with keynote addresses underscoring the need for sustained investment, global partnerships and pragmatic action to navigate the energy transition. The inaugural session featured Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas; Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the UAE and Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC; and Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa.

Addressing the gathering, Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted India’s steady progress towards energy security, self-reliance and climate justice under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that India Energy Week has rapidly evolved into a trusted global platform bringing together policymakers, producers, consumers, investors and technology providers at a time of heightened volatility in global energy markets.

The Minister emphasised that the global energy transition must be viewed as energy addition rather than replacement, calling for continued investment across oil, gas, biofuels, green hydrogen, LNG and clean cooking fuels. He outlined India’s reforms-led approach, including the opening of sedimentary basins for exploration, successive OALP and DSF bidding rounds, and policy measures aimed at attracting long-term global investment.

Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber underlined that global energy demand is entering a phase of large-scale transformation driven by emerging economies, digitalisation and integrated energy systems. He cautioned that underinvestment poses the greatest risk to energy security, and called for balanced investment across all energy sources to ensure affordability and sustainability. Highlighting the UAE–India partnership, he reaffirmed ADNOC’s role as a reliable supplier of crude, LNG and LPG to India and the UAE’s commitment to long-term, trust-based cooperation.

Welcoming delegates, Pramod Sawant said India Energy Week has emerged as a platform that translates dialogue into action. He highlighted Goa’s sustainability vision, including its roadmap towards achieving 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050, while balancing environmental priorities with responsible development of the blue economy.

The inaugural addresses reinforced India’s positioning as a responsible global energy leader, with strong emphasis on international cooperation, innovation and investment mobilisation as critical enablers of a secure, affordable and inclusive global energy transition.
