India to add 337,900 MW power generation capacity by 2032; MoS Power

India is projected to add approximately 337,900 megawatts (MW) of power generation capacity by 2032, according to Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik. This announcement was made in response to a query in the Rajya Sabha. Naik reported that the total generation capacity increased by 79.5% over the past decade, rising from 248,554 MW in March 2014 to 446,190 MW in June 2024. Of the anticipated capacity addition: - 80,000 MW will come from thermal power - 25,010 MW from hydropower - 14,300 MW from nuclear power - 50,760 MW from pump storage plants (PSP) Additionally, 510 MW of small hydro capacity, 143,980 MW of solar power, and 23,340 MW of wind power are expected to be added by 2032.
