The Jodhpur division of North Western Railway has initiated a tender process for the installation of 1,074 kW grid-connected rooftop solar power systems at various service buildings and gates. Bids for the project, valued at ?44.6 million (~$534,227), are open until July 22, 2024.

The scope of work includes the complete setup, testing, and activation of on-grid solar power systems within the Jaipur Division. Each system will feature a wall-mounted inverter, SPV array, module mounting structure, power conditioning unit, controls, protections, interconnecting cables, switch gears, and necessary infrastructure to support grid power. Additionally, the systems are designed to operate with a power factor greater than 0.95 and within a temperature range of -5 to +55 degrees Celsius. They will also include a solar meter and a government-approved net meter.

Interested bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of ?373,300 (~$4,471). The project must be completed within six months from the date of award.

To qualify, bidders must demonstrate a minimum average annual contractual turnover as specified in the tender documents, calculated based on their previous financial performance. They must also have completed similar works in the past seven years, meeting specific cost thresholds relative to the tender value.

This initiative follows North Western Railway's recent efforts in advancing solar energy infrastructure. In December, tenders were floated for 2.8 MW grid-connected rooftop solar projects across station and non-station buildings. Similarly, the Jaipur division invited bids for 1 MW rooftop solar projects based on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer model.
