Jaipur to upgrade streetlights with smart LEDs

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is set to upgrade outdated streetlights on the city's outskirts with smart LED lights. These ageing sodium lights have not seen replacement in the past 15 years in areas under JDA's jurisdiction, which lie beyond the two municipal corporations' limits.

JDA plans to kick off the project's first phase by installing 5,000 smart LED lights over the next four months. Subsequently, the civic authority intends to expand the installation to cover more outlying areas.

The initial phase is budgeted at approximately Rs 110 million and is projected to result in an annual cost savings of around Rs 30 million on the electric bill, according to JDA officials.
