Jakson Infra, an Indian infrastructure firm, has secured a power distribution contract from Angola’s Ministry of Energy & Water under the World Bank-supported Electricity Sector Improvement and Access Project (ESIAP). The contract is valued at US$ 62.22 million (US$ 62.22 mn) and covers comprehensive rehabilitation work in Luanda City. The award reflects a multilateral-funded investment aimed at rehabilitating urban distribution networks to tackle chronic service interruptions and to extend reliable supply to underserved neighbourhoods. Scope includes upgrading conduits, networks and associated equipment while adhering to international procurement and environmental safeguards.

The detailed scope comprises design, supply, installation and commissioning for the rehabilitation of distribution networks, with end-to-end execution covering engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of distribution network systems. Implementation will focus on modernising feeder lines, substations and distribution transformers to enhance service continuity and to reduce technical losses. The project documentation emphasises quality control, staged commissioning and integration with existing grid assets in order to minimise disruption during works.

Raghav Gupta, managing director of Jakson Infra, described the contract as reinforcing the company’s ability to deliver complex, large-scale power infrastructure projects and as strengthening its position as a trusted partner for multilateral-funded initiatives globally. The contract requires coordination with local authorities, ESIAP stakeholders and international suppliers and will involve deployment of specialist technical teams, logistics management and compliance with World Bank procurement norms. Mobilisation plans and project phasing were specified in contractual schedules.

The assignment forms part of Angola’s broader effort to expand electricity access and upgrade its energy infrastructure in urban centres and will contribute to planned service improvements across the capital. Successful completion is expected to support economic activity and improve living standards by providing more reliable power to households and businesses while enabling future investments in the distribution network. Jakson Infra will now commence mobilisation, engage local partners and initiate preparatory surveys ahead of on-site works.
