Jupiter International, a pure-play solar cell manufacturer, has secured a Letter of Empanelment worth Rs 649.5 million from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) for the manufacture, supply, installation, testing and maintenance of off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems.

The empanelment is under the state-run Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, aimed at promoting solar-powered irrigation across Maharashtra. The project will involve the deployment of solar water pumping systems to support farmers, particularly in underserved rural areas.

Commenting on the development, Akash Garodia, Promoter and Whole-Time Director of Jupiter International, said the empanelment marks a critical milestone in the company’s efforts to deliver sustainable solutions at the grassroots level. He noted that by replacing diesel-powered pumps with clean solar energy, the initiative seeks to improve farm incomes, enhance water access and support India’s broader goal of agricultural decarbonisation.

As part of its outreach strategy, Jupiter International plans to launch a farmer awareness programme using WhatsApp and SMS campaigns, along with regional engagement networks, to educate beneficiaries on scheme benefits, application procedures and installation timelines.

The company said its entry into the solar pump segment represents a strategic expansion aligned with its long-term vision of accelerating India’s clean energy transition through innovation, scale and sustainability. It added that the move builds on Jupiter’s established solar manufacturing base and its growing presence across the renewable energy value chain.

Jupiter International operates a 959 MW high-efficiency solar photovoltaic cell manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh and aims to expand into solar-powered applications by integrating advanced technologies, leveraging domestic manufacturing strengths and maintaining a focus on quality, reliability and long-term impact.
