L&T and ITOCHU Collaborate to Develop Green Ammonia Project in Gujarat

L&T Energy GreenTech Ltd (LTEG), a subsidiary of L&T, has entered into a Joint Development Agreement with Japanese corporation ITOCHU to build and operationalise a 300 KTPA green ammonia plant at Kandla in Gujarat. L&T had acquired the land earlier last year for the development of green hydrogen and ammonia projects. LTEG and ITOCHU will develop the facility together, and ITOCHU will take delivery of the product for bunkering operations in Singapore. India aims to have a green hydrogen production capacity of at least 6 MMTPA by 2030, and this partnership is seen as a significant step in achieving that goal and developing clean energy for use in maritime trade. Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President, L&T, remarked, “L&T remains deeply committed to driving the clean energy transition through innovation, strategic partnerships, and engineering excellence.”
