Lakhanpur to Get 10 MW Solar Plant by APM Projects
15 May 2025 CW Team
APM Projects has been awarded a contract by the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) to develop a 10 megawatt grid-connected solar power plant in Lakhanpur, Odisha. The project, valued at Rs 487.33 Mn, will be located on 15 hectares of land in Kirarama village, Jharsuguda district.
The plant will support the energy needs of the Mahanadi Coalfields region. APM Projects will be responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, and operation and maintenance of the plant for a period of ten years.
The solar facility will utilise high-efficiency modules rated at a minimum of 550 watts-peak and string inverters of at least 250 kilowatts. Power generated will be transmitted through a thirty-three kilovolt double circuit line to the nearby 132/33 kV Jorabaga substation, integrating it into the regional grid.
This initiative aligns with Coal India’s long-term sustainability roadmap to diversify its energy portfolio and reduce dependence on coal. The project supports India’s net-zero targets and contributes to cleaner energy adoption.
The Lakhanpur plant sets an example of effective collaboration between public and private sectors in advancing India’s renewable energy transition.
