Larsen & Toubro Secures Major Power Transmission Orders

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a US dollar 30 billion Indian multinational engaged in engineering, procurement and construction projects, hi-tech manufacturing and services, has announced that it has won orders classified as Major for power transmission infrastructure in India and abroad. The company indicated that the awards relate to comprehensive project delivery encompassing design, supply, construction and commissioning of transmission lines and substation works across multiple geographies. The announcement underlined the continuing commercial momentum in transmission projects driven by capacity expansion needs.

The press release clarified that the Major classification corresponds to order values ranging from five thousand to ten thousand crore rupees. That band equates to Rs 50 billion (bn) to Rs 100 billion (bn) when converted from crore, and the release used this classification to indicate the scale of the contracts. The contracts are expected to include high voltage transmission systems and associated balance of plant activities that are typical for such awards.

The company stated that a customer focused approach and emphasis on quality have supported its leadership across core businesses for eight decades and that these orders will reinforce its existing order book. Execution of the projects is likely to contribute to sustained revenue streams as work progresses and milestones are achieved. The deals are expected to assist grid strengthening and the integration of increasing shares of renewable generation.

Media contact for the announcement was listed as Sumeet Chatterjee, head of corporate brand management and communications at Larsen & Toubro, and stakeholders were invited to consult official company channels for further information. The release reiterated standard corporate details and corporate contact points for enquiries. The original press release is available on the company website.
