L&T Wins Rs. 150 bn Power Transmission Orders in India, West Asia

Larsen & Toubro said its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders in India and overseas, valued at up to Rs. 150 bn. The company said the awards are intended to strengthen power transmission infrastructure and facilitate renewable energy evacuation in the markets where it operates.

The orders have been classified in the company’s mega category and cover transmission and substation work across India and West Asia. In a filing with BSE, L&T said the Saudi Arabian awards include projects in the 380 kV transmission and substation segments.

The Saudi Arabian projects will support transmission capacity augmentation and renewable energy evacuation. The company said the work will strengthen Saudi Arabia’s power transmission network and facilitate the integration of renewable energy into the grid. The projects therefore address both network expansion and the infrastructure needed to carry additional renewable generation.

In the United Arab Emirates, L&T has won an order to construct 132/11 kV substations and associated cabling works. In India, the company has received an order from a leading private sector developer to establish a transmission system in Visakhapatnam, comprising transmission lines and substations. These awards add to the business’s international and domestic project portfolio.

L&T’s PT&D business provides EPC and end-to-end services covering transmission lines, substations, underground cable networks, distribution networks, power quality improvement and infrastructure electrification projects. Its work spans the full project cycle, from the development of transmission infrastructure to the delivery of associated systems required for power distribution and grid connectivity.

The company said the latest wins demonstrate the PT&D business’s engineering and execution capabilities across geographies. It linked the awards to its ability to deliver complex power infrastructure solutions for clients across different markets. L&T said this capability was supported by its technology, project execution expertise and global presence, which would help it meet growing demand for grid strengthening, renewable energy integration and associated infrastructure.
