Maharashtra Invites EoIs for 29 MW/59 MWh Floating Solar With BESS
The BESS will be configured to meet the minimum storage obligation set out under the Maharashtra Renewable Energy and Energy Storage Policy and to satisfy a storage power capacity equal to at least 50 per cent of the contracted renewable energy capacity with a minimum discharge duration of two hours for projects commissioned up to financial year 2029?30. The tender specifies that the BESS should be modular to allow augmentation to a four?hour discharge duration if project timelines change. The selected concessionaire will be accountable for detailed design, supply chain management and commissioning to meet policy and technical requirements.
Preliminary feasibility assessments have identified the reservoir as suitable for large?scale floating solar deployment, with detailed validation to be carried out during the Detailed Project Report stage. The EoI outlines a tentative configuration of FSPV of up to 59 megawatt (MW) capacity together with the stated 29 MW/59 MWh BESS, and it provides for a concession period envisaged as 25 years from the commercial operation date. The model is structured as a public?private partnership to attract private investment and advanced technical capability.
The authority indicates that the concession approach is intended to ensure environmental stewardship and long?term operational reliability while enabling private sector financing and expertise.
