Maharashtra has unveiled plans for a massive 1150 MW wind-solar hybrid project, marking a significant step towards enhancing its renewable energy capacity. This initiative aims to leverage the synergies between wind and solar power to ensure a consistent and sustainable energy supply.

The project will be developed under the state's ambitious renewable energy policy, which aims to increase the share of clean energy in the overall power mix. It will be implemented in phases across various suitable locations in Maharashtra, utilising the state's abundant renewable resources.

According to officials, the hybrid nature of the project will maximise energy generation efficiency by capitalising on the complementary nature of wind and solar resources. This integration will help overcome intermittency issues associated with individual renewable sources, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) will oversee the project's development and implementation, collaborating with private developers and stakeholders in the renewable energy sector. The initiative is expected to attract significant investments and create employment opportunities, contributing to the state's economic growth.
