Maharashtra today announced the successful completion of its Guinness World Records™ attempt under the “Magel Tyala Solar Pump” initiative, marking a major milestone in renewable-powered irrigation. At an event held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), the state government and MSEDCL confirmed that 45,911 solar water pumps were installed within a span of one month—one of the largest and fastest deployments of solar irrigation systems globally.

Shakti Pumps (India) Limited emerged as the single largest contributor to this achievement, installing 8,846 pumps during the audited period from 27 October, 12:01 AM, to 25 November, 11:59 PM. This performance reinforces the company’s leadership in solar pumping technology and its longstanding role in advancing clean-energy water solutions. With a legacy dating back to 1982 and the highest domestic market share under PM KUSUM, Shakti Pumps continues to be a pivotal player in India’s renewable energy and water management landscape.

Officials at the ceremony highlighted how the “Magel Tyala Solar Pump” programme is transforming farm-level irrigation by enabling reliable daytime solar pumping and free household electricity at night. The scheme has eased financial pressures on farmers, improved agricultural productivity, and accelerated the state’s transition toward clean energy and rural sustainability.

The record verification process involved vendor-level checks, two independent technical audits, and final validation by the Centre for Energy Studies at Savitribai Phule Pune University. A total of 45,911 installations were approved out of 50,000 submissions.

Dinesh Patidar, Chairman, Shakti Pumps, said the accomplishment reflects the company’s engineering strength and its commitment to empowering farmers with clean-energy irrigation. He noted that under the PM KUSUM scheme, Shakti Pumps has installed more than 1,50,500 solar pumps nationwide, each contributing to farmer self-reliance and reduced dependence on diesel and erratic grid supply.
